Recent Changes

We are a school dedicated to providing our students with real-time experiences and projects related to coastal studies. When students enter the sixth they begin their coastal studies journey working with Ms. Tracy in the middle school hatchery program. Ms. Tracy and Ms. Amber in the middle school along with the Coastal Studies Institute have developed integrated science projects that include monitoring of water quality parameters, fish health, and installation of oyster reefs in the sound behind school. The high school coastal studies program continues research and projects implemented in the middle school and expand upon aspects of research. In Ms. Christin's Earth and Enivironmental and Ecology classes projects include monitoring of oyster reefs, a newly designed polyculture system and the Pea Island Project. The Pea Island Project is lead by Linda Austin (media coordinator) in conjuction with environmental educators located at the Pea Isalnd Wildlife Refuge.
